Sometimes you know art needs to exist, even if you don't like the idea of making it, and now it becomes your responsibility to have it be brought into the world somehow? Well, I'm currently in that position.

I don't want to learn how to draw gore, I don't even like gore, but I need for there to be art of Douman covered in Seimei's blood and viscera. It'd be like, symbolic art or whatever. Half symbolism half literally just gore.

... It'll probably take a while, I'm better at writing than drawing (and I'm still working on those yohaji fanfictions I started back in 2024 August), but it'll happen... eventually...

Happy release is-in-an-hour to all my fellow excited fans! It's really only an hour until the yohaji's first episode will be viewable by the general public and not just for the eyes of the fans who attended the advanced screening!

I'm appalled that I have to prioritize studying over the episode 1 release, universe you've made some sort of mistake!!!

Well, even if I can't have nice things (watch episode 1 as soon as it releases), I still can look at the art I have screenshot and downloaded on my smartphone. There's enough of that to keep me sane while I'm waiting to get home from class I think...

Let's all hope that the first episode will go well: I'm scared from what I've heard from the advanced screening viewers over on twitter, but I have to keep my hopes high lest I fall into madness!

(PS: A few days ago it was announced that Crunchyroll would be handling the yohaji anime's subtitles. I'm not sure how long it'll take for me to be able to watch, since I have to study for exams that are this week, but it's a freeing feeling to know for sure that it'll take less than 48 hours for the English subtitles to release!)

Yohaji's anime is coming so so very soon, I feel at the edge of my seat waiting for news, less than a week to go is such little time! There's really not much more information left to be revealed about the show, that doesn't mean I've stopped being on the lookout for more of it, but with it being so close to the official release date of the first episode, we're at the point where interviews with the cast and production team are the most news you'll hear regarding production matters. (Which is a good thing, since working on producing the show this close to release sounds like a crunch nightmare... The animation and manga industries in Japan are quite horrible, but surely they aren't still working on the animation this late? Let's hope not and that's it's an already finished thing...)

I've yet to hear which company will be doing the subtitles, but my expectation is for it to be Crunchyroll: The Crunchyroll website's news page lists there's still seven yet to be revealed shows that they'll be doing the English subtitles for this fall season. I check the official Crunchyroll news page multiple times a day, so when it gets confirmed that the Crunchyroll company will be doing the English subtitles I'll know within just a few hours after the announcement!

The advance screening day is even closer than that, less than 72 hours away. Not that it's got anything to do with me, it's an in-person event held in Shinjuku, not the kind of thing that I could participate in so easily (even if I did have the money for the ticket, won the ticket lottery, and had the day off from studying). I hope some people will post on twitter about their experiences at the screening. I'm not sure how these types of things go, since I've never been to an advanced screening of anything, but it sounds so exciting. It was announced that the MC for the event is set to be Tanie Reo, who's the seiyuu playing Mame! There's also going to be 3 other speakers: Oosaka Ryouta (who plays Haruaki), Suzuki Ryouta (who plays Sano), and Fukuyama Jun (who plays The Principal)! It sounds like attending the advanced screening would be lots of fun. I wonder if they'll do a bit where they put on an act in character? I want to see it so badly, but that's just not the kind of thing you can see unless you go to the event yourself...

Even if I can't go to the screening, at least there's still interviews to look forward to that are available to the public to read! Yesterday while scrolling through twitter, I stumbled upon one interview released as an article. I'm going to try reading it through one of those websites that translates things for you for free, since my Japanese skills are not nearly high enough to read the whole thing without assistance, but that doesn't hamper my excitement much. I'm saving it to read later as a reward for my future self after I finish some more of my assignments. I want to read it now so badly, but hopefully that intense want will motivate me to get things done.

It's things like interviews with the cast that make the approaching release date feel so much more real. There's many things that make it feel "real", but an interview is so... so tangible to me? There's wonderful art on twitter where loyal fans have been releasing daily fan art in anticipation of the anime, and that has amped up my excitement for sure, but an interview? I guess it holds more weight in my heart, since it's got me so excited I could scream! An interview with three members of the cast! The cast members interviewed even overlap with three of the four cast members who'll be at the advanced screening! Fukuyama Jun wasn't interviewed but the other three were, and that makes up for a bit of the pain of not being able to attend the advanced screening.

Less than a week... Less than a week... It's so close!

I remember seeing this art for the first time back a few days ago. I'd been trying to find a picture I liked to use for my dreamwidth (or was it for SqWA?) profile. I saw this then - but seeing it again when I wasn't in the middle of a task was overwhelming! I felt weak and lightheaded, like if I saw any more cute things than this, that I'd pass out from how very moe it is.

Nyuudou and Tamao postcard

It's not like Tama and Renren aren't seen together often in canon, they are together quite often already (which makes sense, as they're best friends). I know that, even still, if I had been standing when I saw this I'd have fallen to my knees. It's so cute that it's overwhelming!!!

The tiny little Tama, so content in Renren's arms, leaning on Renren and yawning like that, so cute I would want to give him so many kisses on his cute little head! It's not just Tama who's so cute, it's also the way Renren looks directly at Tama is melting my heart, and he does so with so much affection!! The blush on Renren's face, the smile that Renren's sporting, it's all too much. They're also tucked in together in [Rensuke's(?)] bed, it's so sweet and domestic like, it's seriously too much! Way Too Much!!!
I love this so much, Tanamai-sensei you're going to kill me, this is too sweet, too wonderful, I'm on the verge of tears with glassy eyes, they're just that cute! They're killing me!

Opening twitter when you first wake up is absolutely not the thing I recommend doing, especially when waking up with tightness in your chest because of stress, but today I had a stroke of luck and the first thing I saw was something amazing!

Link to the tweet with the sample

Tanamai-sensei posted a sample preview of Volume 17's shikishi, and it's so beautiful, seriously I love how this looks. The original post had a while border around the shikishi sample image, so I removed the white border using krita. I know it's not a perfect edit, but this is just the sample for now (I'll add the non-sample version to this journal entry once possible.) Ibara and Kai both look so good in this: Ibara is elegant but still cute with that sort of nervous look on her face, and I want to pinch Kai's cheeks, he's just too adorable all embarrassed and flustered like that. It's purely my fantasy, but I'm imagining that the red string doesn't actually directly connect them but runs to Izuna first♡.

On a related noted: I really want to finish reading the Meiji Romance arc to learn more about the two of them. I'm currently doing a reread again with the intention of catching up to the latest chapter! As of current, I've finished the first 2 volumes, my hope is to be caught up with the magazine release before the anime starts releasing in about 3 weeks!!

I have more to say about Meiji Romance arc (well, it's not completely about the plot... you'll get what I mean by this if you read the post) but I'll give That it's own post.
Edit: I decided to put the semi-related post behind my access list.

It's a common story, you remember something from your childhood, thinking of it fondly. You remember it indistinctly, but there's still so much love for it, that you want to combine your new interest with an old one, and start to brainstorm.

"Futari wa Pretty Cure" is one of the best things out there, at least according to 9 year old Yuuki it was, and I remember dancing to the songs each time they played. I loved pretty cure, even if I was a little bit on the older side of the audience for it. Shows like super sentai and pretty cure are largely made as ways to sell toys, I'm well aware, but that doesn't mean I didn't love both of them growing up. I favored pretty cure, since I always liked cartoons more than live action, but they were both very good. Compared to my current "favorite thing" right now, Pretty Cure is pretty different. They're both pretty slice of life at times, but the target audience for Yohaji is quite different from Pretty Cure's target audience.

Still, that didn't stop my brain wandering while during class a few days ago thinking "Hey, wouldn't a Yohaji parody of Futari wa Pretty Cure's first ED song "Get You! Love Love!?" be pretty fun?"

The thought process being that the dances were so fun, and the up beat song was kinda cute. I didn't remember much about the lyrics, and didn't bother to look them up until just now. ... I probably should've looked them up earlier before taking more than an hour of my time writing over a full page of notes on what order I should put the characters in for the dances. I was even considering doing a mock up drawing!

It's not necessarily that there's an issue with using Get You! Love Love!? as the base of my parody that means it won't fit anyone in the Yohaji cast no matter what I do, rather it's that I don't ship Sano with Haruaki, which would be the easiest way to do this parody, and the lyrics combined with the visuals I had in mind would come across as SanoHaru.

I think if I want this to work, I'll need to stray a bit from a direct parody of the song. Maybe if I put further emphasis on Kuniko and Rensuke? It'd not be my preference, since I'm actually the one person on this entire planet who ships Rensuke/Tamao/Kuniko all together as a trio, but it'd probably be the one way to get this work. That, or I'd need to try fitting Rintarou/Haruaki into this, since I do ship them, but the issue there is how the song is very much about the love that teenage girls feel, which doesn't really work...

It feels like I've wasted my time a bit, thinking all about how to create a parody of Get You! Love Love!?, and then trashing the idea, but I suppose that's just the way things go.

I don't think I can entirely call it a loss, or a waste of my time. The brainstorming process was fun, lots of fun, to the point that it helped me relax today, instead of staying so jittery, like I have been these last few days.
All this thinking about Futari wa Pretty Cure's first ED does make me want to rewatch the show. It's such a fun show, and though it's been quite a few years since I was oh so obsessed, I don't think I'd find it anything close to boring.

The reality of things is painful to admit, but at the end of the day, I just really don't have enough motivation to make the time for a Pretty Cure rewatch, so it'll probably be delayed a while yet. It's been so many years that I've delayed a rewatch, but who knows, maybe I'll make time for it next month, or even next week! We never know how these things will go. In the mean time, I'll keep working on my Yohaji fan projects that I can actually make

While rereading Chapter 1 of P-Haji for the umpteenth time, this instance being both for my own personal pleasure, and to gather data to input on the fan wiki, I noticed something...

Marilyn is side character both in the mainline comic, and in P-Haji, you could even consider her a background character. There's not a lot of focus on her in the story at all, so I don't usually focus much on her. I know that she's friends with Daisy, I know she's green, I know she wears a big red bow, and is one of the characters who wasn't initially apart of the story but gotta retconned into the class after the first few chapters had already been released. There's not a lot I know about her, but these are some hard facts, much like how, just like Daisy, Marilyn has only 1 leg!
... It's exactly that which left me surprised and confused while reading.

P-Haji, Chapter 1, Page 8 (well.. the 2 page spread after page 7), in the largest panel where she sits next to Daisy and behind Koizumi, you can see that Marilyn has 2 legs. 2 legs! That's 1 more leg than she usually has!

It's a tiny little detail, but now that it's caught my attention I can't help but wondering if this ever got corrected later in print, or maybe online? Maybe Tanamai-sensei made a tweet about it that I've just never seen before. Really, it's so fun noticing these little details. Even knowing it's a mistake doesn't make me any less delighted than knowing a bit of trivia like this!

Lastly, before I give anyone any time to wonder about it: yes, I added this bit of trivia to the wiki! Both to the specific chapter page, and Marilyn's character page! Of course I did! There's no better place to write about that sort of thing than on the fan wiki in the dedicated trivia section. I hope someone else finds some joy in knowing this little detail, whether they saw it themself first, or learned it from my little entry on the wiki ♡. (Or perhaps even learning it from this post on my journal? It'd be wonderful all the same!)

VOLUME 17'S COVER IS SO WONDERFUL.

Volume 17 JP.jpg

I don't always get so excited about the covers being released but this time I absolutely am. Volume 17 is the first instance of Haruaki (or... a part of his soul) NOT being on the cover. Tanamai-sensei's tweet where she revealed the cover just made the cover even cuter to me. She shared anecdote about asking her editor if she should find a way to include Haruaki on the cover, but her editor saying this time it's okay for it just to be the two of them (Izuna and Ibara), it just adds to the charm of this cover, seriously!! Here's a link to the english translation of the tweet for those interested in seeing a translation of her exact words.

I'm posting this about a day after the cover got released, but I first saw the cover yesterday, and I spent the first 3 hours after seeing it trying not to scream. I had class, which interrupted my "think obsessively about the newest yohaji release" time. Luckily I was able to scream over text about it with some of my friends (who aren't yohaji fans, but are willing to listen to my screaming) which definitely helped me expel some of that excess energy before class, but the moment class ended my brain was back to thinking about how much I love Volume 17's cover. It's been over a day now since the cover was revealed, and I'm still so very in love with this cover, it's seriously too cute for me to calm down any time soon ♡!
